Talking Shop | REMM makes a splash in the media profiling iconic Manchester development

News announcing the redevelopment of the iconic Rylands building in Manchester, the former home to Debenhams for many years, has made a huge splash in the media recently and we’re excited to have played our part.

Having been appointed to manage the marketing and PR for the ambitious scheme, REMM officially launched the project externally in late 2022 and it seemed to get everybody talking…

One of Manchester’s most recognisable and much-loved buildings is finally to be redeveloped into an exciting state-of-the-art office space, comprising retail and leisure facilities.

Our initial announcement was met with great interest and anticipation across the region with the Manchester Evening News welcoming the “major update on the £70m plans to transform the iconic building.”

Bought back in 2017, there has been an eager wait for updates to be revealed and appetite was strong across the media, with everybody impressed by the pioneering plans for the scheme.

Key trade publications such as Estates Gazette and Construction Enquirer were particularly impressed with what they hailed to be a huge “transformation” of the site.

The story was also covered internationally thanks to the likes of Property EU, while top-tier European real estate publication, React News, interviewed the developer and published an article that referred to Rylands as “Manchester’s best office space.”

In all, we’ve seen almost 30 (and counting) articles appear across regional, national and international press, both industry-specific and cultural news publications, generating a potential reach of 15 million.

The result? A huge boost in awareness of the development and our client’s vast capabilities. This exposure has already increased interest in the scheme, helping the developer and letting agents express their key messages of delivering high-spec, sustainable commercial spaces in the heart of Manchester.

At REMM, we are delighted to be receiving such positive and widespread coverage of what is an extremely exciting project, both for us and the wider Manchester community.
